Pursued by the jealous shaman and confronted with numerous dangers, the intrepid trio must restore the natural balance of the environment in order to save their people.

Deportation is a threat that always hangs over the family's heads. At school Veysel is ignored by his teachers because he speaks very little German. But three things combine to change the fortunes of Veysel and his family: a Kurdish poem entitled "Your Beauty is Worth Nothing", a gruff neighbor with a kind heart, and a Yugoslav immigrant girl who is also a refugee.
