The flying turtle is looking for something in his house. But he can't find it, not even in his shell. His neighbor the elephant comes for a visit. He sees the mess the turtle has made while searching and immediately imagines what must have happened. Is he preparing for the end of the world? Or is he looking for the meaning of life? The turtle says that nothing can be done. So the elephant suggests that when there's nothing that can be done, let's at least have cup of tea.

Matei (11) lives with his grandfather in a coalmining region in Romania. His parents went to work in Italy a couple of years ago. His relationship with his grandfather is very close. After an incident, Matei is unfairly kicked out of school and his grandfather reacts violently to this. Their mutual trust is destroyed. Matei flees from home and seeks shelter with Isidor, a mountain shepherd, who sends him back to school. Instead, Matei goes to Bucharest where he discovers The Museum of Natural Science. He returns home. Shortly after his arrival, his grandfather dies and Matei is sent to a children's home. When his mother and younger brother return to Romania to take him to Italy, Matei hides and they are forced to leave without him. He decides to stay and follow in his grandfather's footsteps.

To cap it all, he discovers his mother has been deceiving him with all her talk of night shifts. She is unaware of the number of desperate acts he gets into. The excuses which follow soon ensnare him in an impossible situation.

It is a dramatic story about the strange potter, Martin Lepiš, nicknamed Dragon, who is suspected by the villagers as the cause of natural disasters happening to them. He lost his wife, his home, and his freedom due to false accusations. After years he returns to his native village but the past cannot be mended or changed. Putting his own life to risk, he saves a herd of sheep in danger from forest fires high up in the hills. But not even this heroic deed helps to restore him to the local community.

Sixteen-year-old Jasna runs with a crowd of girls engaged in a perpetual pursuit of fun, drugs and cheap sex. They record and replay their exhibitionistic antics on their smart phones as a form of validation; their recordings seem to have a more tangible reality than their actual existence. This blurring of the line between self-realization and self-degradation leads Jasna to regard the abusive behavior of her new drug dealer boyfriend as the start of a meaningful relationship. But when she visits an orphanage and meets a child who might not have long to live, her long-dulled emotions start to resurface. Her tearful confession to her boyfriend leads him to redouble his sadistic assault on her body, mind and spirit.
