Synopsis: This is the story of two families, their friendship, and a shared fate in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the shadow of WWII. Due to his nature, the sensitive and intelligent Simon is experiencing adolescence to be a bit complicated and dramatic due the war and his complicated relationship with his loving adoptive parents. His parents are hiding his real parentage because of wartime events. At school, Simon makes a Jewish friend who is marked by his agonizing childhood in Nazi Germany. His friendship with Isak and his family brings up questions about his own origins, to which Simon is desperately trying to find the answers.

Lisa Ohlin: Lisa Ohlin (1960) is a Swedish screenwriter, director and producer. She graduated in anthropology and art, then in film at New York University. Her distinguished work includes short and feature-length films, TV series and commercials. She established herself with her successful debut Waiting for the Tenor (Veranda för en Tenor, 1998). Further awards were won by Sex, Hope and Love (Sex, Hopp och Kärlek, 2005) and her most recent work Simon & the Oaks (Simon och Ekarna, 2011).
