Synopsis: A 40-year-old writer is recalling his difficult childhood that he experienced as a five-year-old boy in southern Slovakia during the postwar period. The memories are full of peculiar characters typical of that place and time characterised by political, national and social conflicts.

Stanislav Párnický: Stanislav Párnický (1945) is a Slovak TV and film director. He graduated in theater directing from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He first worked in theater, later moving into television, where he made a substantial amount of his rich productions. He made his independent foray into feature films with, e.g., the drama films A Cart Full of Pain (Kára plná bolesti, 1985) and Southern Post (Južná pošta, 1987), the fairytale Sleeping Beauty (Šípková Růženka, 1990) and the sequel to a film by Štefan Uher, She Grazed Horses on Concrete (Pásla kone na betóne, 1982) under the title ...Horses on Concrete (…kone na betóne, 1995).
