Synopsis: In nineteenth century Denmark, Martine and Philippa, two elderly daughters of a Protestant pastor in a remote village, gave up their lives to help their father and his parish. After many years, a French refugee, Babette Hersant, comes to them to work as a housekeeper. Some time after the death of their father, the sisters decide to organize a feast for the whole village to celebrate 100th anniversary of his birth, and Babette begs them to let her fix it. No one knows that the French girl is a famous French chef from the Parisian restaurant "Cafe Anglais" and that she intends to give the villagers an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives...
