Synopsis: Five people with something in common; they're insecure, vulnerable and eternally single. When they all sign up for Italian lessons, a series of unexpected events begins. The downhearted Andreas unsuccessfully tries to take the place of the local pastor. The shop assistant Olympia has decided to rebel against her dominant father, something she's never done before. The introverted hairdresser Karen discovers her mother's somewhat dark secret. The angry and aggressive Hal-Finn is trying to cope with love and his best friend Jorgen is trying to help anybody and everybody, regardless of his own problems. As time passes, they all realize that they've come upon an unexpected opportunity to change their present lives and find happier days.

Lone Scherfig: Lone Scherfig (1959) is a screenwriter and director. She graduated from the National Film School of Denmark. Initially working in TV, she made her breakthrough with her debut The Birthday Trip (Kaj's fodselsdag, 1990). She gained favor with audiences, critics and festivals with her other successful films On Our Own (Nar mor kommer hjem, 1998) and Italian for Beginners (Italiensk for begyndere, 2000), Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself (2002) and An Education (2009).
