Synopsis: A new police office arrives in a sleepy backwater town. While the old-timers like him, the man who was, until now, the boss does not. Just like a story out of a classic western, only this time it's not a historical farmstead in America, but a modern day Danish village in Jutland surrounded by bogs. Robert, a police officer from Copenhagen, is sent here as punishment. His arrival is welcomed with strangely satisfied expressions by the local inhabitants. The policeman, whose "by-the-book" behavior" is quickly confronted by local customs, begins to suspect that the facade of a seemingly ordinary small town is hiding disturbing secrets.
