Synopsis: Sixteen-year-old Mik is a slightly odd boy with big ears and a big imagination. He hates dogs, but loves hard rock, his brother, and whales. One day two social workers come and tell him that he has to move in with his aunt in northern Sweden. Upon arrival he wants to escape, but he gradually settles in. He falls in love for the first time, starts to work in a cat factory and manages to make friends with the brothers Bengt and Bertil, who haven't spoken together for 30 years. Mike's adventures continue after the authorities again decide that the boy must move again. Mik therefore decides to escape on the Ice dragon.
