Synopsis: When John Bennett was a little awkward boy, he received a teddy bear for Christmas. One magical night John makes a wish and Ted comes to life. Ted then becomes a celebrity, though interest in him gradually wanes... John is now 35, works at a car rental and has a girlfriend named Lori. John and the foul-mouthed Ted are still best friends. They both enjoy beer, sex, drugs, watching TV, telling childish jokes and continue to worship comic book and film hero Flash Gordon. But Lori expects a more responsible approach to life from her boyfriend and doesn't want to live in a home with a promiscuous teddy bear. Thus Ted moves out, but his bad influence on John continues. Lori loses her patience with John and dumps him. Only then does the stuffed animal show pureness of character and selfless friendship to the two people.
