Synopsis: It is believed that "The Catrineta Ship" dates back to the 16th century. This widely popular song has become an icon of the Portuguese adventure in the open seas. Our novelist and poet Almeida Garret collected the poem (author unknown), which tells the journey of Albuquerque Coelho from Brazil to Lisbon. "The Catrineta Ship" depicts the maritime tragedies of Portuguese history during the Discoveries.
